The state’s most notorious prison is marking a new milestone. San Quentin is being transformed into what Governor Newsom calls “the nation’s most innovative rehabilitation facility” near San Francisco. Crews demolished a former warehouse that served as a furniture factory, clearing the way for construction to start on an educational center in the fall. Newsom says California is building a new future “brick by brick” to make everyone safer.
