The Former Sonoma County Department of Health Services director is facing increased scrutiny over the hiring of a questionable homeless services provider. The Press Democrat is reporting that it was Barbie Robinson, now the director of Harris County Public Health in Texas, who first suggested working with DEMA Consulting & Management. Robinson even hired DEMA to run mobile health clinics during the pandemic when she took the job in Texas in 2021. There is even a report that DEMA’s founder and former president Michelle Patino offered Robinson a consulting job with the California side of the company’s business. Robinson claims she turned it down as Harris County went on to hire DEMA for a non-law enforcement response to people experiencing mental health crises.
