Teachers in the Sonoma Valley Unified School District are threatening to strike if a new contract is not reached. The union representing the teachers voted unanimously last week to authorize a strike if it becomes necessary. The district is facing budget cuts and is proposing measures that the teachers’ union opposes, including pay cuts and furlough days. The union is calling for increased compensation, smaller class sizes, and more resources for students.
