The Santa Rosa City Council is looking to adjust the way it appoints people to various leadership positions, including mayor. The proposed changes could lead to an official process for choosing an appointee when the council cannot reach a consensus on who to pick. During discussions earlier this month, the council was split on approving a new set of rules that outline how the mayor and vice mayor are to be chosen. The Santa Rosa City Council will choose and appoint its next mayor in December. The mayor position is on a rotating two-year cycle.
