The Sebastopol City Council is trying to convince residents to vote for a new half-cent sales tax. The Press Democrat last week, the council voted on a policy for how it would spend the money if Measure U is approved by voters in November. They would allocate 40-percent of the potential sales tax revenue toward infrastructure projects and a “sufficient” amount toward maintaining public safety staffing levels. This move comes as a recent survey over the summer shows that just 9-percent of respondents said they were satisfied with the way the Sebastopol city council has managed city finances.
