A popular movie theater in east Santa Rosa is still on the path to becoming a Planet Fitness gym. Last week, a group fighting to save Summerfield Cinemas lost its appeal. But, the group and an attorney representing the property owner say they are discussing a deal that could keep the independent theater from closing after all. The terms of the potential deal have not been announced. Plans to turn Summerfield Cinemas into a Planet Fitness were first presented in September of last year, prompting backlash from the community and movie fans.
