A bill just signed by Governor Gavin Newsom is part of a broader plan to end gas price hikes in California. Governor Newsom signed it yesterday after approval by the Assembly. It requires refineries keep a minimum amount of fuel on hand if they go down for maintenance. This will avoid supply shortages that drive up gas prices. Newsom says he’s not waiting around for the industry to do the right thing, claiming Big Oil continues to lie and is the “polluted heart” of the climate crisis.
