Sonoma County Airport Gets Approval for Two New Safety Employees

More fire and rescue staff will be coming to Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport. The safety reinforcements were approved by the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, amid an FAA investigation into a June whistleblower complaint about a lack of safety staff. The whistleblower said the airport does not have enough fire and rescue staff to respond to emergencies, including runway crashes. The airport will be adding two additional safety employees, who will be responsible for security, responding to runway emergencies and inspecting the airfield. The additions were proposed by airport officials, after months of complaints and concerns voiced by staff.
