Election Officer Selected for Northern California to Investigate Threats

The US Attorney’s office is stepping up efforts to combat threats against local elections. Assistant US Attorney Sarah Griswold has been selected as the election officer for the Northern District of California. She will be the point person for the district’s handling of Election Day complaints of “voting rights concerns, threats of violence to election officials or staff, and election fraud.” It is against federal law to threaten election officials or staff, intimidate or bribe voters. This is part of a nationwide effort by the US Department of Justice as each of the 94 US attorney offices have been appointed an election officer.
