Former Sonoma County Resident in False Kidnapping Case Goes Back on Social Media

The former Sonoma County resident convicted of falsely reporting the attempted kidnapping of her kids in Petaluma is back on social media. Katie Sorenson recently posted two videos to Instagram. In the first, she defends herself and criticizes investigators. In the second, she addresses the negative comments directed toward her, but does not offer an apology. In December of 2020, Sorenson told police a couple from Petaluma tried to kidnap her kids outside of a Michael’s store. In April of 2023, a jury convicted her of filing a false police report.
