Sonoma State University is implementing a hiring freeze. Interim President Emily Cutrer announced the hiring freeze on Thursday, along with the suspension of nonessential travel and nonessential purchases. And, only president-approved essential positions will be authorized to move forward. The university is hoping the moves will lower a projected 21-million-dollar budget deficit. The hiring freeze is projected to save about five-million-dollars.
