This month, the Santa Rosa Police Department will host two public meetings discussing a plan to send drones to the scene of emergencies ahead of first responders on the ground.
The first meeting will be on the night of January 22nd, at the Santa Rosa Utilities Field Operations Building. The second will be a Public Safety Subcommittee meeting on the morning of January 28th. The Santa Rosa Police Department says drones will allow officers to assess emergency scenes before paramedics, firefighters and police arrive.
Department officials also say drones will allow them to gather real-time data by providing an aerial view of emergency scenes, which will inform police decisions.
