A local nonprofit, Nuestra Comunidad, has opened a new resilience center in Windsor. Founded by veteran 911 dispatcher Alma Bowen, the center aims to enhance community preparedness for emergencies, from natural disasters to health crises.
The center offers a range of services, including disaster preparedness training, mental health support, and nutrition programs. It also plans to provide immigration resources to the local Latino community.
Bowen, inspired by her experiences as a dispatcher, emphasizes the importance of community education and addressing the unique needs of vulnerable populations.
