A climate resilience summit is underway on the North Coast, bringing together tribal leaders, officials, and environmentalists.
Hosted by the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, the summit focuses on watershed and wildfire issues. Chairman Greg Sarris spoke about the impact of colonization on the environment and the importance of traditional land management practices.
The North Coast Resource Partnership organized the event, highlighting efforts like the co-management of Tolay Lake Regional Park and the recent controlled burn there. The Klamath River dam removal was also a key topic, with reports of salmon returning to the area.
