Napa’s first red-light camera is now active at the intersection of Soscol and Lincoln avenues. This is part of the city’s plan to improve traffic safety at high-injury intersections.
Over the next few months, cameras will also be activated at Redwood Road and Solano Avenue, Highway 29 and Trower Avenue, and Soscol and Imola avenues.
For the first 30 days after each camera goes live, drivers running red lights will receive a warning. After that period, violations will result in citations: $445 for running a red light and $217 for failing to stop when turning right. Napa police will review each potential violation before a citation is issued.
The Napa City Council approved the red-light camera system last year. The contract was originally with Conduent, but has since been transferred to Modaxo.
