Officials Monitoring Flood Stages Around The North Bay

Officials are monitoring the Russian and Napa rivers’ flood stages as an atmospheric river soaks the North Bay.

The National Water Prediction Service was calling for major flooding of the Napa River near Downtown Napa late Tuesday night. The river was expected to top out at 28 feet at eleven p.m. and stay above that level until at least four a.m. In Sonoma County, the Russian River continues to rise and is expected to crest this morning.

On Tuesday night, evacuation orders were issued for low-lying areas along the Russian River, from Healdsburg to Jenner. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office asked anyone living at 36 feet or below to evacuate.

At least 33 roadways in Sonoma County are closed due to flooding.

There is also a threat of flooding in Napa County, where a flood warning expired early this morning. There will be a chance for water levels to recede today. But, more rain is in the forecast for tomorrow and Friday.

Temperatures are also expected to drop below freezing this morning. A frost advisory is in place through nine a.m.
