Calistoga City Council Approves Two Year Contract For Calistoga Speedway

The Calistoga City Council has approved a two-year agreement with Hunt Motor Sports Concepts to bring sprint car racing back to the historic Calistoga Speedway for the first time since 2019.

Hunt will organize race weekends, covering the $100,000 cost of grandstand repairs. The city anticipates generating over $115,000 from alcohol sales and RV parking. Beyond racing, the council has formed a temporary advisory committee to explore the future of the 71-acre fairgrounds. This committee, comprised of council members and community representatives, will gather public input and recommend potential uses for the property.

The council is also moving forward with a $38,000 community survey to gauge public opinion on the fairgrounds’ future. These moves aim to make the fairgrounds financially sustainable and ensure community involvement in its development.
