Napa City Council has approved a $2.5 million leaf-themed playable art structure to replace the aging playground at Fuller Park. The project, titled “Leaves on a Line,” will feature unique play equipment designed for children of all abilities.
The decision, made in a 4-1 vote, comes with a significant cost increase, doubling the initial budget. Concerns were raised by some council members and residents about the expense, making it Napa’s most costly public art project to date.
The increased budget is attributed to the addition of shade structures, new play features, and necessary foundation work. Despite the cost, council members supporting the project emphasized its importance as an investment in Napa’s families and children, highlighting Fuller Park’s status as a signature and historic park.
