Authorities are announcing several unusual items seized following a routine traffic stop in Windsor.
A Sonoma County Sheriff’s deputy made the discovery late last Wednesday night, near Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport. Authorities say inside the vehicle were nearly three-dozen illegally harvested live abalone, a northwestern pond turtle, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Abalone have been off-limits to recreational harvesting in California since 2017. The driver has been identified as 46-year-old Jason Ramos.
Police say he was on post-release community supervision and misdemeanor probation with outstanding misdemeanor warrants in Lake and Mendocino counties. His passenger admitted to having meth and hypodermic needles as well.
