Seven acres of land are being charred in a controlled burn in west Sonoma County.
The burn started Tuesday morning and will continue through tomorrow. It is taking place in an area of the Audubon Canyon Ranch at the LandPaths’ Grove of Old Trees, near Occidental. Smoke may be visible in the Occidental, Camp Meeker, Freestone and Bodega areas for up to ten hours today and tomorrow.
Officials say the goal is to build ecosystem resilience in the redwood forest and provide training for local firefighters.
