Local officials and partner agencies are urging residents to prepare for what they’re calling a potentially high-risk wildfire season.
During a preparedness update yesterday, emergency managers and fire chiefs highlighted significant efforts to reduce wildfire risk, emphasizing that warmer and drier-than-normal conditions are expected from June through August, with heavy winter rains contributing to increased potential wildfire fuel.
Cal Fire Division Chief Ben Nicholls stressed, “We are in a fire year, not a fire season,” urging heightened vigilance for an increased threat of large wildfires.
