First-Ever Petaluma Fair Starts Today

The first-ever Petaluma Fair kicks off today, Thursday, June 19th, at the Petaluma Fairgrounds, running through Sunday, June 22nd.

According to a report from the Press Democrat, after the city took over fairground operations last year, they’re bringing a fresh take to a beloved tradition. You’ll find classic favorites like livestock exhibits and Farmer’s Day events, but also plenty of new attractions.

Looking for a unique way to cool off? You’ll have a chance to dunk Sonoma County Sheriff Eddie Engram tonight! Petaluma City Council members Frank Quint, Karen Nau, and Brian Barnacle are also stepping up to the dunk tank on Friday and Saturday.

The fair is going “greener” this year, focusing on sustainability with no plastic bottles sold and only compostable foodware. Don’t forget your reusable water bottle!

And for entertainment, get ready to be amazed by the Flynn Creek Circus under the big top, alongside magicians, balloon artists, and comedy acts. Local youth performers will also take the stage. On Sunday, the Petaluma Speedway offers free community rides and a Demolition Derby to close out the fair. While the World’s Ugliest Dog Contest has moved to the Sonoma County Fair, Petaluma will host its own “Puppalooza” costume and talent show for dogs.

Tickets are $24 for regular admission, with discounts for seniors and children, and an all-access pass for $55.
