As Cloverdale students head back to school this month, they will find fewer teachers and staff.
The Press Democrat reports the Cloverdale Unified School District has laid off over a dozen employees, including teachers and administrators, to address a $1.5 million budget deficit.
School officials cited a number of reasons for the deficit, including a decrease in state funding due to declining student attendance and the use of one-time COVID-19 relief funds for ongoing expenses.
