The former Birkenstock campus in Novato is getting a new life.
According to the Press Democrat, The Eames Institute, a nonprofit dedicated to the legacy of designers Ray and Charles Eames, bought the 88-acre property for $36 million. They plan to convert the landmark site into a new art and design museum.
The museum will feature the Eames archives and other design works within the existing, unique buildings. The institute aims to open by 2028, bringing a new cultural attraction to Marin County.
