Immigration advocates are demanding the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors pass a sanctuary ordinance.
The advocates packed Tuesday’s board meeting, including several who have been taking part in a hunger strike outside of county offices for the past week. The hunger strike is meant to draw attention to the issue. Many of their calls for action were heard during a public comment period that lasted at least an hour.
Speakers detailed personal experiences with immigration and their fears of being detained by ICE agents.
