Today, Santa Rosa officials will discuss whether to approve a proposed new gas station.
In April, the city planning commission denied a permit for the project, known as the Elm Tree Station. Commissioners said it posed health and safety hazards to the surrounding community. They also called it inconsistent with city land-use policies and climate action goals.
The project was one of two being reviewed by city planners when Santa Rosa banned the construction of all new gas stations in 2022. Elm Tree Station was exempt from the ban.
