Video allegedly shows a man smothering his 94-year-old father-in-law at a home in northwest Santa Rosa.
Seventy-one-year-old Khanh Trong Tran was arrested on Saturday, on suspicion of murder. He remains behind bars without bail. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office says home video from earlier this month shows Tran smothering his father-in-law, before calling 911 and reporting he was unresponsive.
Detectives say Tran killed him because he viewed him as a financial burden and no longer wanted to provide him with the intensive care he needed.
