Petaluma Police Announce Upcoming Road Work & DUI Checkpoint

Petaluma drivers should be aware of two upcoming traffic disruptions this week.

The first is for water line upgrades happening at the intersection of Rainier Avenue and North McDowell Boulevard. According to the Petaluma Argus-Courier, the work is scheduled for tonight and tomorrow night, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., and may cause delays. Drivers are advised to use caution in the area.

Additionally, the Petaluma Police Department has announced a DUI checkpoint for this Saturday, August 23rd. The checkpoint will be held at an undisclosed location within city limits from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Police remind drivers that impairment can be caused by more than just alcohol, including prescription drugs and marijuana. First-time DUI offenders could face fines and penalties of over $13,000.
