A man from Cloverdale is behind bars in connection with a carjacking and assault outside of a hospital in Santa Rosa.
It happened last Friday afternoon, at the Kaiser Permanente medical offices on Old Redwood Highway. A maintenance employee says he watched a man get into his parked truck and start the engine. The employee tried to take the keys out of the ignition, but the man allegedly threatened him and told him he had a gun.
The suspect then accelerated while the employee held onto the door. He was dragged 25 yards before falling to the ground. The victim was hospitalized with moderate injuries.
The suspect was later arrested after a police chase in Healdsburg. He is due in court tomorrow.
