A prominent piece of property near the Windsor Town Green may finally be developed, but not everyone is happy with the latest plan.
The Press Democrat reports developer Bob Dailey has presented a third proposal for a small, wedge-shaped lot near the new SMART Train station, this time for 18 four-story townhomes. This new plan scraps a previous project with apartments and commercial space, which Dailey said became financially unviable due to high construction costs.
However, town officials and residents are concerned that the new townhome plan, which includes garages on the ground floor, doesn’t fit the “gateway” nature of the lot. They also worry the premium price of the homes won’t address the town’s need for more affordable housing.
