Seventeen alpacas are dead after a series of mountain lion attacks at a ranch in Lake County.
Since August 17th, there have been four attacks on the 350-acre property near Middletown in a span of ten days. The most recent attack happened late Tuesday night, when one or more mountain lions hopped a fence and killed two alpacas. The herd initially had 42 alpacas.
The attacks have happened despite guard dogs, and later, an armed neighbor guarding the herd.
