Sonoma County’s law enforcement watchdog says it could not fully review a 2022 deputy shooting near Healdsburg.
The Press Democrat reports three deputies refused to answer questions, and Sheriff Eddie Engram declined to order their cooperation. The Independent Office of Law Enforcement Review and Oversight released a 97-page report Tuesday on the killing of 36-year-old David Peláez-Chavez, calling the lack of access a major barrier.
The case has reignited debate over the powers voters granted IOLERO under 2020’s Measure P.
