A public meeting on the Sonoma Developmental Center redevelopment plan was met with overwhelming hostility from community members last week.
According to the Press Democrat, residents gathered to comment on the new Environmental Impact Report for the project, which still includes 990 housing units and a 150-room hotel. Concerns over wildfire evacuation routes and the sheer scale of the development dominated the discussion, with only two people supporting the plan.
Opponents, who previously won a lawsuit against the initial study, warned county officials they are prepared for further legal action if the revised plan doesn’t significantly change the project’s size and scope.
