SRCS To Expedite Rincon Valley Middle School Closure

Santa Rosa City Schools is speeding up a school merger plan in a desperate bid to close a major budget gap and avoid state takeover.

According to the Press Democrat, trustees are set to discuss moving up the closure of Rincon Valley Middle School to June 2027, integrating its students into Maria Carrillo High School. This acceleration is key to addressing the $10–15 million in cuts needed by February.

Though the early closure is expected to face intense community pushback, district leaders are urging the move, citing successful transitions at other merged campuses.
