Sonoma County officials are considering a proposal to build a professional soccer stadium at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds.
The United Soccer League is exploring a five-thousand-seat stadium that could anchor a commercial district with restaurants, shops, and other development. Supporters say the project could boost the local economy and government revenue, especially following the cancellation of horse racing at the fairgrounds this past summer.
County supervisors and the fair board will meet October 17th to review USL’s proposal and consider entering formal discussions.
