SSU Issued Warning Following Unsafe Levels Of Chlorine In The Water

Sonoma State University advised students and staff to stop using campus water this weekend after tests showed excessive, unsafe levels of chlorine.

The Press Democrat reports the warning meant no drinking, cooking, showering, or even handwashing with campus water. Toilets could still be flushed.

University water operators addressed the issue immediately, and chlorine levels were significantly lowered by Sunday morning. Bottled water was supplied to residents after the advisory went out.

As of late Sunday, the Green Music Hall and the Student Center were the first buildings cleared for water usage, and the university expects other areas to follow soon.
