State utility regulators have given SMART rail officials and the City of Santa Rosa an ultimatum to resolve the long-stalled Jennings Avenue pedestrian rail crossing.
Per the Press Democrat, the CPUC expressed extreme frustration over the nearly decade-long delay, which is keeping a neighborhood from safe access across the tracks. The delay is centered on a dispute over liability for accidents at the crossing.
Judges have ordered both parties to finalize a deal and bring it before their boards for a vote by December, warning that failure to act could lead to commission intervention.
