The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors has unanimously endorsed the state’s congressional redistricting initiative, Proposition 50, urging residents to vote ‘Yes’ on November 4th.
Spearheaded by Governor Newsom and state Democrats, Prop 50 aims to redraw California’s congressional map to offset a Republican-favoring redistricting maneuver in Texas. The Press Democrat reports the new plan would make Santa Rosa the core of a newly drawn Democratic-leaning 1st Congressional District.
While all five supervisors, who are registered Democrats, voted in favor, Supervisor David Rabbitt did question the appropriateness of the nonpartisan board weighing in on the highly partisan issue.
