Petaluma racing icon Shawn McCoy has died. According to the Press Democrat, the 64-year-old was killed Saturday night in a one-car rollover crash at Marysville Raceway.
Known as “Ironman,” McCoy was a legend at Petaluma Speedway, where he held a record of nearly 900 total starts over a 45-year career. Petaluma Speedway staff expressed their sorrow, noting that McCoy passed away “doing what he dearly loved to do.”
McCoy was a two-time track champion celebrated for his competitive drive and kindness to fans.
