The Windsor Town Council has approved an extra $250,000 for community projects, pulling the money from its budget reserves despite warnings of a strained budget.
The Press Democrat says the funds will go toward projects like pothole repair, pool resurfacing at the senior center, and trail maintenance. This spending comes after the town already used $7.8 million from reserves to balance its two-year budget, a move necessary due to declining sales and lodging tax revenue and rising operational costs.
The town’s reserves are now down to 15% of its operating budget, and leaders are considering putting a supplemental sales tax before voters to shore up finances.
