It’s soon going to cost more to park in downtown Santa Rosa.
Last week the City Council approved an increase in downtown parking rates that will go into effect on January 1st. Parking meters in busy areas like Old Courthouse Square and Railroad Square will increase by one dollar per hour. Parking permits will increase to 60 dollars per month.
At the same time, some 200 parking spots on the outer edges will become free parking, with city officials saying those will offer free parking to residents who don’t mind walking a few blocks.
