If Congress doesn’t act, thousands of residents in Sonoma and Napa counties face massive health insurance premium hikes next year.
Covered California says without extended federal tax credits, the average monthly payment could jump by nearly 90% in Sonoma County and 85% in Napa. The Press Democrat says this means over 23,000 people in Sonoma and 5,800 in Napa could see their net monthly costs rise by around $170 or more.
The enhanced subsidies that cap payments for middle-income earners are set to expire at year’s end, potentially forcing thousands locally to drop coverage entirely.
