New flood maps for the Todd Creek watershed, stretching from Santa Rosa to Rohnert Park, are in the final review phase after years of disputes over property impacts.
Sonoma County challenged FEMA’s original maps, which imposed flood insurance requirements and building restrictions, and conducted its own flood study in 2023 after a federal appeal was rejected. The county study reclassified 289 of 964 parcels, with more than half removed from flood zones.
The updated maps cover neighborhoods along Highway 101, surrounding watersheds, and smaller tributaries feeding into the Laguna de Santa Rosa.
