The Santa Rosa City Council is meeting tonight to consider formally censuring Council Member Dianna MacDonald.
According to the Press Democrat, an external investigation found MacDonald likely violated city policy through inappropriate workplace conduct, including making unwelcome sexual comments to staff about her romantic relationship with a city employee and attempting to use her office to benefit her partner.
The council member has apologized, stating she is “truly sorry for not meeting those expectations.”
While a censure is a public reprimand and will not remove her from office, it is an extraordinary step for the city.
