Santa Rosa Woman Arrested After Feds Intercept Package Of Drugs From South America

A Santa Rosa woman is in custody after federal agents intercepted a package of illegal hallucinogens sent from South America.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection alerted Santa Rosa Police to a parcel arriving from Peru destined for an apartment on Yulupa Avenue. While the contents were disguised as tea and herbal powders, testing revealed a cocktail of illegal substances, including Ayahuasca, mescaline, and a variant of cocaine.

Following the discovery, narcotics detectives raided the home of 47-year-old Tahryn Janet Anderson on Tuesday. Inside the residence, officers found GHB—commonly known as a ‘date rape’ drug—along with drug packaging materials.

Investigators also discovered that Anderson’s teenage daughter lived in the home and was allegedly permitted to use drugs regularly. Anderson was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on multiple felony charges, including possession for sale and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Police are reminding the public that law enforcement uses advanced tracking and K9s to monitor the mail, and ordering controlled substances through the postal service can lead to federal trafficking charges.
