A Guerneville family is calling it a Christmas miracle after a massive tree crushed two homes and three vehicles on Highway 116 Wednesday morning.
The Press Democrat reports the collapse sent debris and insulation directly into a three-year-old’s crib. Her father, Chris, described a harrowing scene of scrambling through the wreckage to reach his daughter, who was coughing but alive. The child was taken to a hospital with only minor injuries.
Both homes have been declared uninhabitable, and downed power lines left the immediate area without electricity. Local tree crews say they have been working to clear similar damage across the North Bay, noting that while the timing on Christmas Eve is devastating, heavy storm damage is a constant reality for West County residents.
