A trial date has finally been set for a cold case murder that shook San Rafael over 50 years ago.
Per the Marin Independent Journal, 77-year-old Michael Mullen is scheduled to face a jury this April for the 1973 killing of Nina Fischer, after a judge ruled he is mentally competent to stand trial despite his defense team’s concerns over his age and memory.
Investigators caught a major break in the case back in 2021 when DNA evidence linked Mullen to the crime scene, potentially bringing closure to a mystery that has remained unsolved for five decades.
