This is a wonderfully simple company dish or when you want to give you family something very special
1 package (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate pieces
1/4 cup sugar
Pinch of Salt
1 Large Egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup coffee or cream de cacao liqueur
1 1/4 cups half and half, heated carefully (Do Not Boil)
Measure everything into a blender, adding the hot cream last. Blend at high speed for two minutes.
Pour into pot de creme, demitasse cups or small custard cups and refrigerate about four hours or until firm.
Top with whip cream, flavored with more liqueur or soft vanilla ice cream, stirred with liqueur if you like.
Makes 6 servings
OTHER SUGGESTIONS:
Shave chocolate on top of pot de creme
Add an elegant semi-sweet cookie on top
Pour entire pot de creme in premade graham cracker crust, freeze and add softened ice cream or whipped cream with chocolate sprinkles or chopped nuts.
