Protesters across the North Bay joined a nationwide ‘Free America’ walkout Tuesday, marking one year since President Trump’s second inauguration.
Per the Press Democrat, hundreds of students and residents took to the streets in Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, and Napa, part of a wave of demonstrations targeting the administration’s deportation efforts and military interventions abroad. In Santa Rosa, protesters lined Mendocino Avenue, while about 100 Analy High students marched through downtown Sebastopol.
Many participants expressed fear over the erosion of democratic norms, citing recent military actions in Venezuela and threats of domestic troop deployments. Organizers with the Women’s March say the walkouts are a call to protect civil liberties as the administration enters its second year.
