Residents in Monte Rio are on edge after home security cameras captured a mother mountain lion and her two cubs prowling through backyards late last week.
While the footage has some neighbors worried about their pets, wildlife experts say seeing year-old cubs is actually a rare, positive sign for the local population’s health.
The Press Democrat reports local officials are reminding everyone that we “live in lion habitat,” urging residents to secure pets and stay “big and loud” to keep these cats focused on their natural prey.
